The story behind the art
Bless the wisdom of our beloved Grandmothers and Elders.
They have shared with us the teaching of the interconnectedness of corn, beans, and squash, known as the Three Sisters, which symbolize the physical and spiritual sustenance of life.
These vital plants were bestowed upon the people when they miraculously sprouted from the body of Sky Woman’s daughter, bestowing the precious gift of agriculture. Our Grandmothers have imparted the knowledge that these plants—corn, beans, and squash—are akin to our ancestors and share a harmonious, mutually beneficial relationship with each other.
