Awake

In highlighting the teaching of our Elders, they make emphasis on understanding that we are Spiritual beings first and then material form as human which is our body, we bring that form to the table of life to learn & grow.

Traditionally we are raised conscientiously to be mindful, grateful & respectful.  We are taught to live as spiritual beings first and part of a whole and not divided.  We live mindfully of all life forms around us, the land, the trees, the plants, the water, the animals, the Sun, the Moon and the Star nation.

We learn to be grateful for the gift of Life, a new day, a new learning & growth.

Taking the form as human beings, sometimes we live in a cloud or a bubble and are sleeping through our truths as a spiritual being. We need to redefine our ways from that sleep for our selves, family & community.

When you decide to no longer live in a dream world, it is then you learn to filter everything out that clutter your minds & you have a clear vision to learn to let go of your ego and focus on becoming more aware of the changes that needs to occur. We can then practice mindfulness also.  To experience the awakened state that starts by our inside and goes on to invite inner peace to have a better vision and not to focus on the previous blurred vision.

MY PAINTING – AWAKEN

In this place, our Indigenous community come together to pray & greet the Sun of a new day, expressing gratitude for the gift of Life and for everything around, including family and the community.

The strength of the Sunrays shows that despite all obstacles encountered, for survival we sometimes colour our clouds to make the atmosphere more palatable or make ourselves more at ease by continuing our sleeping.

Young people congregate eager to be part of the changes arising by getting involved in building a strong diverse community, working together learning how to make the changes, being mindful, respectful and inclusive.

Gathering around the sacred fire, all the children of the four colours are coming together, being part of the circle of creation.

Pictured, we see all beings enclosed in the spirit of that covenant, they are grateful to be able to meet, create, and grow together in the spirit of peace, friendship and respect on that Ancestral land.

Breeze & Kisses of the Universe

I heard & felt the wind, the spirit of the Land and her whole breath kissing my face that gives Life to the World.  I see the physical spirit of Turtle Island, she is young but also old, beautiful & stands strong, loving and fair.  I feel at peace to be part of so much and allow myself to feel the peace and be with our Ancestors. The moon and stars engulf us in their glory as we bask in the presence of our Ancestors.
Joining our Grandmother as she travels the pathway of our sacred teachings peacefully in recognition of the whole.
Creator, gratitude is sent your way for your wisdom & guidance on how-to walk-in respect on all the beauty you have provided us on Turtle Island, for us to live & reflect our true nature in gratitude for the gift of life, the learning & the growth

The Bear Walk of our Ancestors

Our Ancestors knew the Gifts of the Bear. They created him to teach all of us those Gifts.

The Gifts of the Bear represents strength, confidence & courage with a goal toward strong leadership.

His Medicine Spirit indicates that it’s time for healing or using healing abilities to help our selves or others. His Medicine Spirit brings the importance of understanding solitude, quiet time, and rest. Where it provides strong grounding forces.

The Medicine Spirit of the Bear is a strong source of support in times of difficulty. It provides courage and a stable foundation to face challenges. When the bear shows up as a spirit guide in our life, it’s perhaps time to stand for your beliefs or your truth.

Its presence inspires gaining respect and the many blessings to unfold with the understanding of it.

Sankofa painted on Hand Drum

Sankofa – derived from King Adinkera of the Akan people of West Africa. Sankofa teaches that we must go back to our roots in order to move forward. Reach back and gather the best of what our past has to teach us so that we can achieve our full potential as we move forward. Visually the mystic bird flies forward while looking backward with an egg (symbolizing the future) in its mouth. This ties into the motto “In order to understand our present and ensure our future, we must know our past.
