Diane’s Artistic involvement & achievements

The following are some of the highlights of Diane’s Artistic involvement and achievements.

  • November 2021 Diane was invited to have her works displayed amongst 15 other Indigenous community members in Toronto’s (Association for Native development in the performing and visual Arts) – ANDPVA store.
  • In 2021 Diane’s Artwork is published in Listening to Indigenous Voices – A Dialogue Guide on Justice and Right Relationships for the Jesuit Forum for Social Faith and Justice.
  • August 2021 – Diane curated the Indigenous exhibition called the “Wisdom of Kinship” at the Leslie Grove Gallery of Toronto reuniting First Nations, Metis & Inuit artworks.
  • December 2020 – Included in Artist’s Network of Toronto’s first Commemorative Art Book 2020 amongst other fine Art Artists.
  • October 2020 to present – Indigenous Consultant for the French School Board VIAMONDE
  • October 2020 – Exhibited at a juried exhibition called “Root’s and Belonging”. The painting, Beautiful Grandmothers, was selected.
  • October 2020 – Guest presenter during the event “Pathway to Awareness & Understanding” at the St-Paul circle of Indigenous friends & advocates.  Demonstrated virtually on making “The Talking Stick” 
  • September 2020 – Panelist on the online event hosted by Cultural Pluralism in the Arts Movement Ontario (CPAMO). Discussions offered a space for networking with artists and organizations, asking the same questions about IBPOC (Indigenous, Black, People of Colour) visibility, inclusion and their intersections with artistic/organizational practices while speaking to many perspectives in the arts and the changing demographics of audiences and participation within the Arts sector.
  • September 2020 – Drawing won the second place at the “Bawaajigewin Aboriginal Community Circle” for the Orange-shirt Logos in regard of the residential school.
  • August 2020 – Exhibited at a juried show called “Where do we Land”.  The painting The Wisdom Canoe was selected. 
  • July 2020 – Received a Grant from the Aboriginal Curatorial Collective of Toronto for the Community Cares Emergency Response Fund.
  • July 2020 – Received a Grant from Imagine Native in collaboration with Create to Learn to create 4 videos on – 1. Land relationship with water & stones 2. Stone paintings 3. How to display stone paintings 4. Painting on canvas.
  • June 2020 – Paintings, Grandmother Moon and Sunrise Prayers were featured on the teaching aide forum booklet cover page of the Jesuit Centre for Social Faith and Justice – A dialogue guide on Justice and Right Relationships advocating Listening to Indigenous voices  
  • June 2020 – Exhibited in a juried show called “Mother’s Day” at the Leslie Gallery of Toronto. The painting Grand Father Pine Celebration was selected. 
  • March 2020 – Juried Exhibition called “Vital Signs”.  The painting The Land Preparation was exhibited with those of 30 women Artists at the Artist’s Network & Leslie Grove Gallery Celebrating International Women’s Day
  • February 2020 – Exhibition at Lourdes Coffee community Artist place. 
  • November 2019 – The painting – The teaching Lodge (3 parts) was exhibited at CPAMO Gallery of Toronto (Cultural Pluralism in the Arts Movement Ontario), exhibition called the “Gathering” (all female artist group) in their Gallery.
  • October 2019 – Amongst the invited judges to be part of a Juried Student Art selection at the TCDSB.  
  • June 2019 – Invited by the TCDSB to create a fabric mural called “Reconcili-Action” with special needs students in 15 of their schools.  
  • 2018 & 2019 Guest artist for the Latornell Environment Symposium
  • 2018-2019 – Exhibitions – French Alliance of Toronto in the Pierre-Leon Gallery her exhibition called “Celebration of the Call of the Elders to Inner Peace” was well received.
  • In 2019 Diane received a Grant from OAC (Ontario Art Council) in collaboration with the Woodland Cultural Centre. 
  • March of 2019 to present – Board member at The Artist Network of Toronto as Education Director
  • 2018 nominated as Indigenous Woman of March being involved with women entrepreneurs at OASIS where she displayed her paintings, celebrated on international women’s day.  Also nominated amongst other “Woman of Influence” through her work with teachers and students at the TCDSB (Toronto Catholic District School Board).
  • 2017-2018, exhibited in the Gallery of the Artist’s Network in collaboration with Art Gallery Ontario & Royal Ontario Museum.  
  • In 2017, French Indigenous docent at the Royal Ontario Museum for the exhibition called Anishinaabe: Art & Power.
