Exhibition MARCH 23 TO APRIL 20 Commemorating and Honouring our Ancestors
Diane Montreuil is an Algonquin Métis, visual artist, educator, knowledge keeper, and board member of MNOC (Métis Nation of Canada). An inner desire for the traditional ways of her indigenous culture was the beginning of an artistic journey that led to true self-discovery and spiritual healing that continues to this day. Diane Montreuil’s paintings are inspired by the Ancestors and Elders of Aboriginal communities, embracing the teachings and understanding of our spiritual and sacred connection to Mother Earth, including all that surrounds us.
This exhibit embraces the value of heritage showcased not only through the human-shape stage but, most importantly, through the artists and the cultural richness they embody: stories, ideas, emotions, desires, dreams, and hopes. Proud to have been part of the Advisory Committee in this one-of-a-kind art exhibit.
The GREAT CANOE JOURNEY (offered in french schools) involves school-aged youth (grade 3) across Canada in reconciliation through education, cultural and water themes. Registered school groups learn more about traditional canoes and Aboriginal perspectives through webinars, workshops and events organized by and for youth..
